Description
Mysore Sandal Soap is a brand of soap manufactured by the Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL), a company owned by the government of Karnataka in India. This soap has been manufactured since 1916, when Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV, the king of Mysore, set up the Government Soap Factory in Bangalore to make use of the excess sandalwood reserves that could not be exported to Europe due to the First World War1. The Mysore Sandal Soap is the only soap in the world made from 100% pure sandalwood oil, which is extracted from the sandalwood trees grown in the forests of Karnataka. The sandalwood oil gives the soap its distinctive aroma and its soothing and antiseptic properties. The Mysore Sandal Soap is a mild and gentle soap that contains no harsh chemicals to cause allergies or irritation. It also contains glycerine, which moisturizes and softens the skin. The soap lathers well and leaves a lasting fragrance on the skin. The soap is suitable for all skin types and can be used for face and body.
