Protein shakes are more popular than ever. From banters to vegans to weekend warriors, finding enough clean healthy protein can be a challenge. At Soaring free we have been educating people on the need for increased intake of micro nutrient dense(vitamins, minerals) food for years, and left the macro nutrient dense food(Protein, fats, carbs) to others.
We have realised though that protein powders tend to be full of terrible ingredients, greenwashing people with tiny amounts of “healthy” ingredients. Sugar, GMO’s, pesticide laden powders, cheap fillers, toxic flavourings and sweeteners, hard to digest legume proteins are commonly used.
Peter Daniel has formulated our new Performance Protein Shakes to his uncompromising standards.
“Significant muscle growth requires high protein intake, and noticing that most protein shakes on the market are actually low in protein and high in toxic ingredients, I decided to make my own to support my fitness goals.”

SO WHERE DOES OUR PROTEIN COME FROM?
Mainly from hemp seeds with added brown rice protein, 2 of the most digestible and safe sources available, creating a complete amino acid profile.
Hemp can provide all that is needed to live. It is quite possibly the plant with the closest historical relationship with humans. Its famous five leaves give us an indication of its purpose: to support to the five-pointed figure of the human being. Its fibre is used to make clothes, building materials and fabrics of all kinds. As a highly revered food source, hemp can be traced back thousands of years to cultures the world over. Hemp as a sustainable resource is finally making a reappearance!
Hemp protein is made from hemp seeds and contain all 20 known amino acids, the building blocks of protein, including the nine essential amino acids (EAAs) that our bodies cannot produce. Approximately 65% of the protein in hemp seeds is made up of the globulin protein edestin, the most potent protein of any plant source, which is found only in hemp seed. Edestin aids digestion, is relatively phosphorus-free and considered to be the backbone of the cell’s DNA. The other one third of hemp seed protein is albumin, another high quality globulin protein similar to that found in egg whites. Hemp protein is free of the tryspin inhibitors that block protein absorption and free of oligosaccharides, which cause stomach upset and gas.
The globulin edestin in hemp seed closely resembles the globulin in blood plasma, and is compatible with the human digestive system. It is vital to the maintenance of a healthy immune system and is also used to manufacture antibodies.
Brown rice feeds more people on earth than any other food! The protein content of the rice is concentrated by dissolving the carbohydrates in the rice using enzymes, resulting in an amino acid rich protein powder that is hypo allergenic.
Combining these 2 protein sources gives us a high protein % with all the fantastic health benefits associated.
WHAT ABOUT THE TASTE?
As many will know, protein powders often taste terrible, hence large amounts of sugar are usually used to mask the protein. Seems mad to sell a “protein shake” that’s half toxic sugar tho!
We decided to use Monk Fruit extract as our sweetener. Can a sweetener also be a potent healing herb? Yes!
Monk fruit, which is also called luo han guo, is a small green melon that has been cultivated for centuries by Buddhist monks. Monk fruit is 150 to 200 times sweeter than sugar. The sweetness comes from a type of glycoside called mogrosides that are also potent antioxidants. Monk fruit extract doesn’t have calories, carbohydrates, or sugar, it won’t cause a spike in your blood sugar levels. This makes it an ideal sweetener for people with diabetes. In traditional Chinese medicine, monk fruit is widely used for relieving coughs, acute bronchitis, acute tonsillitis, sore throats, and other upper respiratory issues.
So the shakes do have natural sweetness, but don’t expect a sugar bomb! We recommend adding fruit like banana or mango to make a delicious protein rich smoothie.
The Soaring Free Performance Protein shakes are available in 2 flavours, in our compostable refill packaging.
